A few years ago, when I went back to college to finish my degree, my journalism professor, who used to be a local TV news reporter, made the comment that meteorologists were really good at finding cake.  They just knew it was there; no one had to seek them out.

I do have a theory.  Just like magicians have many tricks to create an illusion.  I wouldn’t be surprised if these meteorologist spent many moments glancing out the window, seeing people carrying cake into the building!

I’ve actually always liked Rick Astley’s music, so I don’t mind being Rick Rolled.

So they pulled the offer and planned to offer the footage on their website. then all of a sudden, everything is on hold, because it is possible that Ashley was seventeen when she spent a week on the Girls Gone Wild Bus.

It funny how timing can work out sometimes.  I placed the final episode of Mash - the most watch American television program of all time.  I have seen it on TV over the years.  I’m guessing they probably broke the episode down for syndication as well.  It just seems to familiar to me.

Some movies and program s remind me of different times and experiences in my life.

This episode was playing one of the two times I MEPS to be processed into the Marine Corps.

It also reminds me of times in the Marine Corps, including the coming and going of friends.  The necessity and skill we acquired to make friendships quickly - because you had time.

I have experienced a breakup with my ex-finance in the last four months.  It has only been really recently that I have had an easier time dealing with it.

I have come to the conclusion, based in part on my past friendships and relationships, and those I witnessed of others, that friendship and relationship are intended for a finite period of time.

That doesn’t mean that the friendships will end on bad terms.  It just means that they will end for a duration or forever.

People move, change jobs, have changes in family and friendship that drift us apart and bring us back together.

I remember both myself and others in the Marine Corps telling one another how we would talk or see in each other later.  In some cases that happened, but in most it didn’t.

I remember one Marine who got along with but maybe didn’t have the most respectful, told me goodbye and since we probably wouldn’t see each other again, to have a good life.  It was actually very insightful.

If it is one thing I have always tried to do is be the best friend I can to others, to be the best boyfriend, and perhaps even the best husband I can.  Knowing that those friendships may not last forever, I know it in the moment how important those people are to me.  Their absense pains me, but I fill the void with other friendships.

There are many of you out there who have been my friends for a time, and if you have ever wondered, I still think of you from time to time, and hope you think of me as well!

Now that I have Netflix, when time permits, I’ve been catching up on some of these great shows.

One of the episodes of Bullshit that I watched was their episode on “The Business of Love.”

In that episode the referenced some very similar studies about the thought that humans were not meant to be monogamous. If you get a chance, watch this episode from season 2, I believe disk 1. The part where the professor shows his work of looking at animal genitalia worth getting the DVD alone.

Even on my worst day, I would never think about doing something like this; on the other hand, it does seem that there is only so far that people can be pushed. I’m sure this deputy will be punished, and it is probably justified.

1. At any Discount, Department or Electronics store, pretty much all of the computers are going to have Vista, except the Macs. You need at least 2 GB of ram for just a basic systems. Stay away from the ones with 1 GB or upgrade them to 2 GB.

2. Almost all the software are that new PC is trial software. It’s for the benefit of the computer manufacturer and not
you. Remove it all or have it done at the store if they can do it.

3. You need a decent antivirus and spyware protection application(s). Don’t get on the Internet without.

4. If you are buying a laptop, chances are you are going to need an extended warranty or insurance. If something happens to it, outside the manufacturers warranty, you’ll be better off buying a new one. If it is under the manufacturers warranty, then you will probably need to ship it back to them at your cost.

5. If you are going to being playing games or doing video editing then that really cheap Compaq or eMachine will probably not do the job. Look for something with an actual video card - 256 MB or 512 MB of ram.

6. Research on the Interent before going to the stores. Have an idea of what you want, how much you want to spend and what you are going to do with the computer. If you are going to do anything above surfing the Internet and burning CDs, then you’re going to need additional software.

7. Unless your computer is fried and you have to have one today, give yourself a month, just in case they don’t have the computer you want. Deals happen every week and you may just find a better computer then.

8. The best time to buy a computer is when you really need it. A better computer for the same amount or less will be out just after you bought you new system.

It appears that the mayor is getting some heat from other Democrats on the city council and the public at large.

I served in the Marine Corps for four years. Most of it in California, but I did some training in North Carolina, and served a year in Okinawa, Japan. I really enjoyed my tour in Japan.

While I can respect people not liking war and connection that military has towards it. Most people, including Marines do not like the repercussions of war.

The Marine Corps and other branches of the military represent protection and defense, individual growth and development and charity.

The military keeps America safe and lends a hand when natural disaster strikes - even to nations that are not friendly.

As a libertarian, I would ask the mayor to kindly remember that the persona freedoms and civil liberties he enjoys were paid with a price by many young men and women who gave their lives to defend a principle.

After some reading, I learned that it orginated on KTMA-TV 23 in Minneapolis, MN. The station is now “The CW” affiliate WUCW-TV.

As KTMA, a struggling independent station, local station employees, like Jim Mallon and local actors, like Joel Hodgson andTrace Beaulieu, got to together to produce this low budget show. When KTMA started having serious financial trouble the show was canceled before the station was sold.

Hodgson and Mallon managed to get the show picked up by Comedy Central when it first hit the air, later by the Sci-Fi channel, and then a short run in syndication.

Hodgson and Mallon split ways during the series run. Mallon, who is the president of MST3K’s production company Best Brains, is currently producing a flash animated series for the web: Mystery Science Theater 3000

Hodgson, Beaulieu and other writers and on air talent for the show are currently producing an Internet/direct to DVD series in the same style as MST3K: Cinematic Titanic

I can understand the concerns of the writers, but the word of media is changing far beyond limited selection that big media outlets deliver to us.

The Internet has made it easy and cheap for independents to give us fresh and unrestricted content. There are even mechanisms to support these projects - Google ads, other affiliate ads and t-shirt sales.

My hope as an independent producer of media is that consumers of entertainment and information will continue to look towards the web to fulfill those needs and wants.

These were the stations with cartoons in the mornings and afternoon. I must of developed an internal clock, because I always knew when to turn the TV on for these cartoons.

WGN had Rocky & Bullwinkle, Star Blazers and Bozo in the morning. In the afternoon I remember Superman (60’s Filmation version).

WFLD had Tom & Jerry, the Flintstones and Spider-Man (Ralph Bakshi’s 1960’s version).

WSNS had the Three Stooges’ cartoon show (1960’s), some other Marvel and non-Marvel superhero cartoons, and Speed Racer.

Star Blazers and Speed Racer always stayed with me. When I got my Netflix subscription , Star Blazers, Speed Racer and Spider-Man (1960’s) were among my first selections.

I had become very fond of these English dubbed Japanese produced series. I’ve done much reading on the subject, must thank television producer Fred Ladd for bring shows like Astro Boy, Gigantor, Kimba, and Speed Racer to American television.

I am both an occasional buyer and seller on ebay with a rating of 98.9%. It would be 100%, but a woman who I sold a book of building plans to felt that the book wasn’t what was listed in the auction. I sold a few other copies of the same book to about nine other people. Nobody every complained all gave me positive feedback. The book was about $5.

She never contacted me for any sort of resolution. Until that happened, I always gave feedback once I received payment.

So after that bad experience as a seller, I decided to only give positive feedback in kind.

While this decision is really not enough to stop me from selling on eBay. I will say that some increases in fees and a glut of people selling the same items I do, has made it hard to make a profit.

As a consumer, I have found it harder to find really good deals on used products.

For those reasons I have found myself spending less time on eBay.

I sell computers and quite often I have people visiting me asking for the cheapest laptop we have in stock. While doing a search on the directory, I came across the Asus Eee. We don’t carry it in the store, but I directed a customer to our web site.

I later did some research and found this handy little laptop with 512MB of Ram was running Linux! I was thinking to myself, “What a great idea!”

Windows Vista would never run on a laptop with 512 MB or ram, but with Linux it should run quite nicely.

The Eee comes with many standard Linux applications like OpenOffice.org (comparable to Microsoft Office) as well as the Mozilla Firefox web browser.

Now, for the user that must run certain Windows applications, they maybe able to do so by running the program alongside, or through, a program called Wine. It will let you run many Windows applications under Linux, but my experience has been that most of the ones I’ve needed didn’t work.

For those that need Windows, this is not the machine for you; at least not until the Windows XP model is released.

This computer retails from between $300 - $500, depending on the specs and the retailer. The computer buyer who needs a very basic computer, this is a perfect buy.

There was even a local business owner that spent about a year in jail for having about eleven DUIs.

While driving home a few weeks ago, the host of the local call in talk show on a local AM talk station was talking about a guy in Norway who got busted for DUI and received 30 days of hard labor (chopping wood with an axe) and large fine. In Norway the fines are based on your income.
